Mission

God has given us a mission, and that mission is pretty clear. We are to to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke of bondage. We are also to share our food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter, and when we see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from our own flesh and blood. (From Isaiah 58:6,7)

Why do we exist?

We exist for George who cannot break free from his heroin addiction, and has lost his family, his job and everything else.
We exist for men like Bill who, under the weight of his depression over his family’s rejection, drank himself to death.
We exist for Lefty who can control neither his lust nor his anger.
We exist for Brian who has been confused and led astray by false religions.
We exist for Lou who loves to gamble more than he loves Jesus.
We exist for Kevin who spent too much time in bad situations to cope in good ones.
We exist for Jack who cannot legally work in the U.S. because of an expired visa, and who has delusions brought on by schizophrenia.
We exist for Gary who is unwilling to admit the alcohol has been the cause of most of his problems.
We exist for Aaron who just wants to work in maintenance, but does not have the skills to find, to apply for, or to get a job.
We exist for Eric who has lost his job and his apartment to alcohol abuse.
We exist for John who left North Carolina to be with a woman who does not want him around anymore.
We exist for Darin who “would walk to the moon on [his] mother’s birthday to scalp a ticket” and then would waste the money at the bar.
We exist for Rich who struggles day to day to make ends meet, and who loves to hear the word of God
We exist for Rocky who says that he loves nothing more than crack cocaine.
We are L.I.V.I.N.G. to serve Pittsburgh’s homeless and needy in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
