Safe Haven

Chris Lin

The hardest lesson I’ve learned in bible study this year is to not worry. For two or three years, I have had sleepless nights, as I have worried about what will happen in the future. I’ve tried many things, but only reading the Bible and attending Bible Studies have helped give me a clear and calm peace of mind. Now that I don’t worry as much, God has shown me how He answers prayers in mysterious ways. Sometimes when I asked for help, it seemed like it didn’t occur right away, but over time God made it happen. 6 years ago, while I was homeless in New York City, I prayed to God and asked him to help me not be homeless and to find a place where I could get better and could study. God answered this prayer by telling me to go to Pittsburgh because someone there would be able to give me housing. When I came to Pittsburgh, it was very difficult to find housing at first. Then someone told me to go to a shelter in East Liberty, and there a man named Gordon helped me get housing through East End Cooperative Ministry. This answer to prayer was much better than I could have ever expected. Before I was without food, shelter, and even friends, but now I have a safe place to live, food to eat, and wonderful friends that love me. My advice to you is just not to worry. Pray and trust that God’s plan is for you to have a good and productive life.
