Washing Away Poverty Campaign

In September, we will be having our annual car wash fundraiser to help raise the necessary funds to continue to serve the homeless here in Pittsburgh. We’ll be at the Busy Beaver in West Mifflin and the Busy Beaver in Crafton washing cars all day on Saturday, September 11th. Our plan is to run the event as a carwash-a-thon where people sponsor a certain amount for every car that we washed.
We’re trying to get to $80 per car committed before the carwash on September 11th. For that to happen, we …

Another Job Fair Is Coming Up

For the last 3 years, the L.I.V.I.N.G. Ministry been hosts of a revolutionary job fair. This job fair is unlike any other job fair around. Instead of just setting up tables and having people show up and meet employers, we hold a ‘closed’ job fair, where all of our prospective employees receive job training skills (budgeting, resume writing, conflict resolution, and interviewing skills). These skills help prepare them so that they are a step ahead of other jobseekers when they speak with employers. This always makes a better transition and …

ALIVE 2009 Was Fantastic!!

On Saturday, November 21st, we hosted our 7th annual festival for the homeless on the Northside, and it was a huge success! We had more volunteers than ever, and were able to serve more people than we had ever served before (so much so that we ran out of food!). Thanks to God’s favor and faithfulness, the day went on without any hitch. We are truly thankful for each of you that came out and experienced the day with us. There were at least 30 people who raised their hands …

A Big THANK YOU!

On behalf of The L.I.V.I.N.G. Ministry, we would like to thank everyone from St. John’s Christian Church who came out last week and volunteered with us. We had such a great time with you guys and are thankful for the work that you did.
For those that don’t know, this youth group stayed with us from Sunday, June 14th to Thursday, June 18th. They are from a little town in Ohio called Archibold, but came and made a BIG impact in our lives and the lives of the ministry.
