This month, L.I.V.I.N.G. Ministry was featured in The Northside Chronicle for the renovation of 2544 Maple Avenue.By Margaret Singer, The Northside Chronicle
Thursday, July 21st, 2011
In 2006, L.I.V.I.N.G Ministry, like the people they serve, needed a home for its organization. In the past five years, they’ve renovated one house for the homeless and are currently working on a second house on Maple Avenue in Perry Hilltop.
L.I.V.I.N.G. Ministry, an organization dedicated to helping the homeless, began renovating its first house in 2006 because they lacked a headquarters to develop ...

Ministry held a FREE coat store. Because of a generous donation from Burlington Coat Factory, we had more than 500 gently used men, women’s and children’s coats to distribute. To receive a coat, one had to call our offices and schedule a time to come up to our store. It was amazing the response that we had from people. Our phone rang off the hook every day, 24/7. We only distributed the coats on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursday, but we served over 30 people ...

Because Pittsburgh is a very cold city, every year we end up losing a handful of our brother and sisters due to the weather. On Tuesday, December 22nd, there was a candlelight vigil to pay respects to the homeless who lost their lives in 2010. Among the deceased were people that we ministered to at the labor halls, ALIVE, or in one of the shelters. Please keep in prayer the families and friends of those who lost their lives, and pray for those who ...

On Saturday, November 20th, L.I.V.I.N.G. Ministry held its 8th annual festival for the homeless called ALIVE. This year’s event was incredible! The weather was perfect, the bands sang their hearts out, there were no confrontations, and volunteers thoroughly enjoyed themselves. But above all, God was glorified and the homeless were appreciated and dignified.

Among the highlights of ALIVE 2010 were:
over 300 volunteers, 250 homeless, 700 spaghetti dinners, 550 Eat N’ Park cookies, 130 bags of awesome winter clothes, free flu shots and optical care, dozens of people prayed for and many ...

About two months ago Pittsburgh Post-Gazette sent a flyer to the office addressed to the volunteer coordinator. The paper was accepting nominations for the Jefferson Award: an award given to volunteers that display heroism in their service. Past national winners of the Jefferson award include Colin Powell, Sandra Day O’Connor, Oprah Winfrey, Peyton Manning, Jimmy Carter and many other household names.
After a short discussion it became clear that we had a Jefferson Award quality volunteer in our midst: Weiting Zhang. Weiting is a former intern of the ...

We’ll be at the Busy Beaver in West Mifflin and the Busy Beaver in Crafton washing cars all day on Saturday, September 11th. Our plan is to run the event as a carwash-a-thon where people sponsor a certain amount for every car that we washed.
We’re trying to get to $80 per car committed before the carwash on September 11th. For that to happen, we ...
