July’s Fabulous Workdays
There’s nothing like coming in to work on your first day at a brand new job and finding out you’ve got four distinct groups of people to organize, and the first project is in six days. So, starting on Day 1, I got an education on Work Days here at the Ministry, but I couldn’t have asked for greater groups to learn from! Read on to learn a little more about each fantastic group!

July 29th: Heinz Serves a Meal
For our last workday in July, Heinz and Pittsburgh Cares teamed up with LIVING Ministry and Wellspring Day Center to serve a meal to and play some cards with some of the men and women we work with regularly. These volunteers provided and prepared a pasta meal complete with salad to make it nutritious and cookies to make it delicious! Some even won a game of Spades. The marketing interns at Heinz and took time out of their busy schedules to brighten a stranger’s day and we were blessed to share the experience with them, thank you!

July 27th: True Fit Solutions
Question: How many software engineers (and their loved ones) does it take to transform a house in one day. Answer: 20, and only if they’re from True Fit!
Alright, so they didn’t transform the entire house, but these guys came to work! In eight hours they managed to paint our coat closets, front porch, two bathrooms, back steps, and computer room. They hung, mudded, and sanded dry wall. Our mantle was remounted, our garden beautified, and our holey interior office wall patched up. The quality of their work was outstanding and we were truly blessed to have them. Thank you True Fit Solutions!

July 15th: Aliquippa Impact
With one mailing behind us and one to go the kids from Aliquippa Impact came in and knocked it out of the park! Our quarterly newsletter goes out to over 800 people and it takes quite a team to get it ready for the mail. Luckily, this team stepped in and got the whole project completed in just about 2 hours. After that they helped to clean and organize the basement, including moving a shelving unit to organize hand tools, organizing clothing, and sweeping a very dusty floor! Thank you for all you did, the place looks great!

July 7th: Benefit Dinner Invitations
A dedicated core of LIVING Ministry volunteers turned out to fold, cut, stuff, label, stamp, and send these beautiful invitations. We got started at 10:30 and worked straight through lunch until the job was done; if our volunteers weren’t crafty when they came in, they sure were when they left! Thank you guys for all your hard work and the willingness to develop an entire skill set in a day, the benefit dinner was a great success thanks to your help!
