New Memebers Join L.I.V.I.N.G. Ministry

Because of the ensuring departure of Mike Gallo, the L.I.V.I.N.G. Ministry was put in the position of needing more hands to help get the work done of serving the homeless. This summer, the ministry is excited to annouce the hiring of (2) paid staff and (2) interns.

Weiting and her daughter Yi Yi have been volunteering with L.I.V.I.N.G. Ministry since June 2010. As a grant research intern, Weiting works alongside Jen to find appropriate grants available to the ministry. She will be graduating from the John Heinz III College of Public Policy at Carnegie Mellow University in December. In her past, she has worked as a financial analyst with World Vision, analyzing their financial statements and 990s. She and her daughter come to the ministry house once a week to serve, and have been a tremendous help in our fundraising efforts!

Allison Martin has been serving at the main point person for our new workforce development program. She has been writing resumes and finding jobs for the men and women in the shelters and will be developing a program that centers around putting the homeless to work. She is currently a Master’s of Social Work student at the University of Pittsburgh and has a passion for working with women in crisis.

Jenna Nonnemacher joined the L.I.V.I.N.G. Ministry’s staff in July at the Volunteer Coordinator and has been working diligently to organize, engage, training, and recruit volunteers. She had been volunteering with L.I.V.I.N.G. Ministry since 2005 in many different arenas. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2009 with a degree in Communications and Business, and has a passion for relating to people.

Liz Chapman has been around the ministry since its inception. Most years she has served as a volunteer at ALIVES, Job Fairs, and workdays. In July Liz also joined the staff, and serves at the ministry’s bookkeeper. Her excellent organizational and financial acumen greatly expands the ministry’s capacity to raise funds. In June she gave birth to her first child, Julia Eden Chapman.
