As February is upon us, the ministry is proud to annouce several volunteer opportunities if you are interested in getting involved. They vary from workdays on our new house, to feeding the homeless, to visiting men and women at the shelter.

Enjoying Fellowship at Project L.I.F.E.:

We currently have a need for groups to come and spend time fellowshipping with the men from Project L.I.F.E. This opportunity would be on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, and would include your group preparing lunch and just hanging out for the few hours. As it stands right now, just about every Saturday and Sunday afternoon are available in February. You and your group would arrive around 11:30pm, would bring and prepare lunch for the 5 men in the house as well as yourselves, and then would just play games, watch a movie, or just hang out together. You would leave somewhere around 2:30pm – 3:30pm. The address for the house is 2536 Maple Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15214. Workdays

Occasionally, we have workdays where we need help fixing up our new halfway house. On Monday, January 18th, we had a team from Cornerstone help start the first work in the house. In the coming months we will be doing some yard work as well as demolition, framing, and cleaning. Our next workday is Saturday, February 27th. It will be from 9am to 1pm. The address for the workday will be 2544 Maple Avenue 15214. There will be a lot of volunteers there, so it should be a fun time. Volunteers will be responsible for bringing dirty work clothes that are WARM (we don’t have heat in the house). Lunch will be provided. We will have a workday in March, April, and May as well, but we currently do not know the dates yet

Shelter Outreach

As always, our most intentional outreach is our weekly visits to the shelters. There, we hang out and engage the homeless and share our lives together. Starting in February, we are venturing to a new shelter for women called Miryam’s. It is located on 1410 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15219. Starting on Wednesday, February 17th, Jen Lee will be going there and having a group discussion on women’s emotions and what the Bible says about them. This group will be from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. If you are a woman and are interested in joining Jen, please contact her at 412-973-0982.
We are also looking for people interested in joining us at Pleasant Valley Shelter (for men) on Saturday nights from 6:45 pm to 8:45 pm. There we hang out with the men and are in the midst of a study on Hosea. If you are a guy and want to come and spend an evening in fellowship with the homeless, please let us know.
