A Big THANK YOU!

Archibold Senior Youth Fellowship
|
On behalf of The L.I.V.I.N.G. Ministry, we would like to thank everyone from St. John’s Christian Church who came out last week and volunteered with us. We had such a great time with you guys and are thankful for the work that you did.
|
For those that don’t know, this youth group stayed with us from Sunday, June 14th to Thursday, June 18th. They are from a little town in Ohio called Archibold, but came and made a BIG impact in our lives and the lives of the ministry.

Before they came, our basement looked like trash! It was damp, uneven, and just a dirt floor!! After two days of hard work, we now have a beautiful solid concrete floor, mixed, poured, and finished by these students.

Thank you again for your hardwork and example of faithfulness to God. May you each be blessed by our Father and changed for the rest of your lives! We love you guys!

Only Days Away From Completion Of The House!

June 26th, 2009

Can you believe that we are only about 1 week from finishing all of the work needed on the ministry house?! I know that it seems like it’s been forever, but we have learned so much from this process and are very excited to have just about arrived. The work that we have left is as follows…

put on doors to offices and bathrooms
Pour concrete for back steps
Fix offset panels for porch roof
Set handrails and banisters
Get final inspections

How You Can Help

|
As we approach the offical opening of the house and the admission of 4 guys into the program, we are seeking individuals and groups that would be willing to sponsor guys who participate in the program. What it will look like is this…
|

-4 men will be in the program along with a resident director
|
-We are projecting that it cost $1000 to house each man for each month that they are in the 9-month program
|
-This $1000 will cover food, utilities, the resident director’s salary and other expenses (internet for the computers, field trips, the cost of a van, etc)

|
We are asking various groups to partner together to absorb this cost. Very similar to Compassion Internation, we are asking church groups and individuals to pray about supporting one of the 4 guys in the house. They would be able to develop a personal relationship with the individual that their group sponsors. They will be invited to periodic visits, correspondence, and other activities with the individual.
|
We are still working out all of the details of this opportunity, but we feel strongly that it will be a great chance for people to make a tangible difference in the spiritual growth of the guys in Project L.I.F.E. If you or your group might be interested in supporting one of the guys in the house, please let us know. Check back periodically as we work out the particulars.

The Streets Are Dangerous For The Homeless

June 26th, 2009

There are many people who live in our city and are exposed to the dangerous conditions of our streets. Whether its violence, harsh weather, or lack of access to healthcare, more and more homeless people are being found dead. Last year, there were reported 9 homeless that died. In 6 months this year, we have already seen 7. Below is an article from the Post Gazette that further discusses this ongoing problem. What can you do to help?
